Are you constantly feeling like you’re going to vomit? Maybe, if you are like me – you have that terrible feeling that you are going to puke, but you never really do, I hate puking and it freaks me out more than anything, so I will do whatever it takes to not vomit when I am feeling Nauseated. I am 24 years old now, and I have been suffering from this since I was a pretty young child. I remember feeling bad all the time when I was at school in Elementry!

To start off correctly, there is no “quick fix” for this issue, no matter what is causing it. However, I have found out over all these years the root cause for mine is actually Anxiety! No, not really just the shy kind of anxiety, but more of the generalized anxiety disorder. You can do a google search more about that and get all kinds of information about this, but basically, your body is nervous, and there is nothing you can do about it. (that sounds harsh, but that is the just of it) Now, your Nausea may be coming from something else, but so far as what I have experienced, the root of the cause is GAD and GERD. I also have stomach ulcers, diverticulitis, and many other issues. I still keep pushing and living life to the fullest extent, because most of those problems are taken care of by some over the counter medication to help me feel much better.
But enough about what can cause this, you want to know how you can make yourself feel better!
Typically when this terrible symptom comes up on me, its in the middle of the night, when the past day I have eaten too much, and I have not had a bowel movement often enough so my body gets really full and makes me feel like I am going to upchuck, but I do whatever I can to not do that. Other times, it can happen when you have not eaten enough! You gotta find that middle area and stay there with your eating habits! Also, try to stay away from super greasy food and spicy food, that will make things worse for you.
What do I do when I feel like this?
The first thing I do is just try to relax whenever I have bad nausea. I know it sounds easy enough, it’s just the fact that you have to do it until you feel better, you cannot do it for 30 minutes and then go outside and go on a mile run, you need to relax for a few hours most of the time, sometimes even a day or more depending on exactly what is causing you to feel like your going to puke. When I am nauseated, I also can feel a little dizzy, light headed, weak and other “think I’m going to die” symptoms. Nausea will most likely not kill you of course, but you feel like you’re dying because it just makes you feel crappy!

I will also not lay down, but also do not stand up, what I do is sit in my recliner and sit about half way back, or if you have one of those beds that lifts up at the head of the bed, lift it up and it will almost instantly help you to feel better.
Find a piece of candy that will taste really good to you, I like to get Ludens throat drops that are sugar-free. They are cheap, taste good, and seem to help me when I do not feel well and help keep a good taste in my mouth to help stop me from wanting to vomit.
I like that you can get the sugar free version also because normally when you don’t feel good and your laying back, you just want to sleep, and these are not near as hard on your teeth to suck on them as you fall asleep, however, be careful that you don’t choke of course!
Some of the medicine I try to keep on hand that is ALL over the counter, that really helps me are
Pepto Bismol & Dramamine. Especially Dramamine I consider to be some kind of miracle drug! It is really for those that get car sick to help them, but I have found out that it helps alot when I feel like I’m going to vomit for whatever reason, dizzy, light headed, or even just nervous. It helps chill my body and my mind out a little bit and helps the sick feeling symptoms!
Also, I highly recommend a big fan blowing right on your face! I cannot sleep without a fan anyway, but it seems like laying back in your recliner a little, with a big fan blowing on your face just does wonders!

I am not a medical professional, so if you keep feeling bad you do need to see a doctor, however, I hope that if there is nothing seriously wrong with you, that you can take some of my tips and tricks to help yourself out! People also say that ginger root (get it as candy or pills) help them too, I never really noticed it helping me, but it could help you out with nausea. Good luck on feeling better, overall just relax and make yourself as comfortable as possible!
